The Bradbury rollform line was originally set up to produce 3:625” and 6” R-Stud products from a coil. It includes an ink jet printing system.
Material is pulled from a 6,500lb. capacity un-coiler into a loop between the rollerstraightner and feed rolls. The job of the roller straightener is to keep an adequate supply of material in the loop and remove coil set from the coiled material.
The material is pulled from the loop via feed rolls that are located on the hydraulic press base. The feed rolls are powered with a servo motor. The servo motor allows the feed rolls to make the required 24’ materials feeds into the press stations very quickly and accurately
The Hydraulic press system includes two hydraulic pressed. The first 50-ton hydraulic press includes three dies located on 12” centers to lance the material in preparation for the flange forming that takes place at the second press station. The Second 120-ton press will be responsible for both the H emboss pattern and forming the hold flanges. The final operation in the press system is a hydraulic shear. the hydraulic shear will be located on the same base at a position that allows the part to be divorced during the punching operation
After Shearing, the part will be transferred via a 12 roller conveyor to the 420 STR rollformer, Both the return lip forming and the flange forming rafts/rolls are adjusted about the “y” axis via hydraulic motor and screw jacks. The location of each raft is digitally displayed and manipulated via a three position selector switch at the base mounted operator station. The rollform included bardie Cartridge Technology. The bardie Cartridge eliminates the need to make rolltooling gap adjustments at each pass for material thickness changes.
The rolltooling is produced from D2 tool steel (R. 60-62). Included in the tooling at #9 will be a side angle pass. The side angle pass enables the retooling to be contact with the side bend radi of the flange to web angle eliminating air forming. The side angle pass allows the flange to be over formed to the proper angle dependent upon the yield strength of the incoming materials. The part straightening fixture located at the exit end of the rollformer is designed to remove defects such as up/down bows, sweep, flare and twist
