Cross Rigid Tap The basic structural elements on the Tsugami M08SY-II Turning Center are produced from fine grain castings which are then machined complete in Tsugami’s own factory to exacting standards. The base is designed to rigidly support all of the machine components. This heavily ribbed base casting is designed for extreme stiffness which provides the structural integrity for the accuracy Tsugami is known for. Integral motors are utilized for the main and sub spindle motors. This technology removes belts and pulleys from the machine thus creating a much more accurate platform and minimizes maintenance requirements. To remove heat generated by the integrated motors, spindle oil controlled within 1° C is continuously circulated to both spindles thus minimizing their thermal effect on the machine. Y Axis for Off Center Work The Y Axis allows for off center machining on either the face or radial portion of your work piece. The turret centerline is the center of the part, the Y axis stroke is 50mm (1.96”) above or below this centerline. The Y axis utilizes: ● Hardened and ground box way construction ● 472 ipm rapid traverse rate ● 2.4 horsepower axis drive motor Dual Mode Thermal Compensation Standard Mode 1 – Touch Switch In Touch Switch mode, when commanded by M code, the turret touches a precision micro switch and physically measures the difference between the datum and the current value, and applies the necessary compensation. Compensation in this mode is applied to the X axis only. Mode 2 – Thermal Sensor In Thermal Sensor mode, the control actively monitors the temperature of several sensors placed throughout the machine and compensates for thermal growth based on their readings. In this mode, compensation is applied to the X axis on both spindles and the Z axis on the main spindle only. The thermal compensation mode is selected by parameter setting.
