The WFC 10 CNC horizontal boring and milling machine made by FERMAT is a continuously managed machine with the cross-type modern design. It is an ideal and powerful solution that can be used for complete medium weight workpiece machining. The WFC 10 CNC offers 6 controlled axes, viz. the 4 linear axes (X, X, Z and W) and the 2 rotary axes (B and C). It can offer continuous machining in all axes simultaneously, i.e. simultaneous control in the X, Y, Z, and W axes, while the full servo rotary table allows continuous B-axis rotation (contouring). During the machining, the machine moves the workpiece on the conveyor belt in the longitudinal direction of the Z axis rack. The workpiece moves on rotary table in transverse direction on the X-axis workpiece and the spindle moves in the vertical direction on Y-axis. The Y-axis ball screw (with 80-mm diameter), sturdy structure and the powerful spindle guarantee the accuracy and robustness of the machine. The other parts, such as the monitor and the systems for temperature stabilization, as well as the backlash-free rotation of the table with highly precise positioning, make the machine highly accurate.
Fermat is excited to introduce the brutish little brother version of their flag ship WFT13, the New WFC 10. This compact boring mill has a 100 mm (4") diameter spindle with 730 mm (29") of spindle travel. The Fermat WFC 10 provides higher torque coupled with extreme rigidity for rough machining and the added luxury of a boring spindle in comparison to horizontal machining centers. The cross roller bearing double pinion geared rotary table allows for Ultra-High precision contouring as well as superb repeatable accuracies The control system Heidenhain iTNC 530, TNC or 620 (Fanuc 0i) provides easy operation of all four axes.
The WFC-10 is primarily constructed with box-ways providing extreme rigidity. The vertical column of the machine is attached to the fixed base. The rigid base is cast with a 4-way z-axis bed design.
Work piece positioning is accomplished by rotation of the B-axis rotary table assembly upon the X-axis slide, which together make up the Z-axis saddle assembly. The entire Z-axis saddle assembly positions and feeds towards or away from the column upon the solid bed section.
WFC-10 CNC works quickly and accurately with the spindle travel 730 mm/ (29") up to 3000 R.P.M. This modern design is ideal for four-axis high performance machining of work pieces up to 5 metric tons (11000 lbs).
Thanks to the machine control systems made by HEIDENHAIN iTNC 530 or Fanuc0i TNC/Fanuc 31i it is very easy to use the machine in all four axes. The components are supplied by the world‘s leading manufacturers (Bosch, Siemens, Heidenhain, SKF, etc.). This ensures reliability and easy reach of the spare parts worldwide. A chip conveyor, ATC system for tool changing or coolant through spindle are among the optional available components.

WFC 10 CNC is a model specifically designed for the manufacturers that do not require machining of large work pieces. The spindle diameter of this mill is 100 mm l 3.94″. It is also possible to order the machine with 110 mml 4.33″ spindle diameter. This model is the smallest horizontal boring machine from Fermat‘s product line. Despite this machine’s small configuration, the WFC 10 CNC is suitable for machining of work pieces up to 3000 kg l 6614 lb. The machine design differs from other Fermat products as there is a fixed column and perpendicularly moveable rotary table base rather than the standard modular design offered by Fermat. The combination of an operator friendly system and high cutting performance in addition to its low cost makes the WFC 10 CNC a very popular model with prospective customers. However, just like the larger machine models, there is a large variety of machining accessories that can be utilized on the WFC 10 mode.
